US Torture: Made in China

This is just lovely:

The military trainers who came to Guantánamo Bay in December 2002 based an entire interrogation class on a chart showing the effects of “coercive management techniques” for possible use on prisoners, including “sleep deprivation,” “prolonged constraint,” and “exposure.”

What the trainers did not say, and may not have known, was that their chart had been copied verbatim from a 1957 Air Force study of Chinese Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions, many of them false, from American prisoners.
Well, at least they maybe didn't know. It would be really shameful if the USA's torture instructors had known that they were borrowing directly from Communist China.

Could someone explain to me again why impeachment is "off the table"? Just exactly what will Bush-Cheney have to do to merit it? Whose barbarity will they have to match?

Again, I hope all the people who voted for Bush enjoyed that beer they found so easy and charming to visualize having with him. No doubt it was totally worth it.

Too true, RS. 201 more days of Bush to go. That's too many, but his last day creeps closer and closer. May it get here with haste.
