The Fatalism

Why bother protecting the environment? Christianist retard Michele Bachmann does not consider this a rhetorical question:

[Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she’s just trying to save the planet. … We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet — we didn’t need Nancy Pelosi to do that.
There, in pure form, is the Christian form of fatalism. It's sobering to think of what varieties of negligence, lassitude, and indifference it doesn't excuse. Jesus already did all the necessary work, and he's coming back soon to finish up. Why bother with protecting what remains of the biosphere? Why bother getting out of bed in the morning? Jesus did all the rising from the supine that anyone could ever want. Why bother trying to wipe out diseases like AIDS, malaria, cancer, and diabetes? Why bother staying alive at all? Getting sick is the first step toward getting fatally sick, after which we get that long-awaited audience with Jesus when he can answer all our questions and sign our "WWJD?" trucker caps.
