Palin as a Reader: Too Voracious By Half?

Sarah Palin treasures staying thoroughly informed, and to that end she reads voraciously on political and cultural affairs -- so voraciously, in fact, that she can't remember the titles of any of the many, many magazines, newspapers, and other periodicals she reads.

COURIC: And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?

PALIN: I’ve read most of them again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media —

COURIC: But what ones specifically? I’m curious.

PALIN: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years.

COURIC: Can you name any of them?

PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news.
"Most of them ... all of them" --- dear gawd. The video is available here. And now here too:

She's so going to stop talking to Couric.

I think this is my second-favorite Palin parody so far (the first, obviously, being Tina Fey), how she might answer a request to spell her own name:

Oh, you know... pretty much the way you would. It's a very common name, you know, not -- I mean a lot of people have heard one like it. I spell it the same way I always, the way my mother taught me, just like you and everybody else. There's this, you know, crazy perception that we, Alaska, you know we spell just like everyone does. It's not this strange foreign country unlike Washington. But, you know, like, I, you know, I get it--this gotcha journalism we all have to deal with these days. Plus, you know I can see that Russian guy in the morning from where I live. Nkay?

Not original to me, of course (see the source at http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2008/9/30/192745/290/125#c125), but I like it.

Hahaha, Larryniven!

Yeah, I choked when I saw this last night on A.C! After that piece they went off to visit the little island in Alaska where you really can see Russia from every house... they say she has never been there. So much for her foreign policy experience.

Bpaul, LN, DC -- truly a wonder to behold, isn't it? Who would ever expect such a rich bounty of dumbass from a brief interview with a news anchor?
