Neko Case: Lady Pilot, Muscle Car Mount

I read it on the internets so it must be true -- this is the new cover art of the forthcoming Neko Case album, Middle Cyclone, the prospect of which leads me to ask: is it March 3, 2009 yet?

How about now?

Until then we have the cover art to ponder. First things first: who is driving the car? It appears to be unpiloted, unless the controls are co-located in the sword's handle -- could this be a new innovation promised from one of the big three bailout mendicants? Finally they're getting practical! Throw in a kickass stereo and it almost makes up for the 12MPG. Almost.

As to the sword, it looks sharp and menacing enough, but is she wearing adequate body armor? It seems unwise to enter a sword fight with bare feet, even with a remote-controllable muscle car at one's disposal.

Ah, rock stars. What won't they try?

Update: the image is quite a departure and a vivid commentary on the conventional sort of portrait that places a beautiful woman on the hood of a muscle car, yes?
