Interesting Prediction

Now here's a bold prediction:

I also predict that Obama will win over the conservative intellectual elites in Washington as effectively as he did at Harvard and Chicago. He won't win over the pure partisans. But the intellectually honest and open-minded ones? You watch.
Notice that Sullivan doesn't name any of these "intellectually honest and open-minded" conservatives that Obama will win over. Maybe he has plausible deniability in the form of a belief that naming them will turn this into a question of manly pride; but then again, "intellectually honest and open-minded" people would be ready to rise above that kind of thing, yes?

There's also wiggle-room in "win over." If he means they won't burn effigies of Obama during this calendar year, or if he means they won't publicly advocate Obama's impeachment before, say, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Kristol, Jonah Goldberg, or Joe the Retarded Plumber, then this prediction could turn out well.

Presumably, these chimerical "intellectually honest and open-minded" conservatives consist of people who supported McCain-Palin in the presidential race but will, some day soon, gravitate to Obama. Hmm.

All things considered, I see hard times ahead for this prediction.
