Bad Art, Unknown to Thee

Shame on me for not finding the Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) earlier:

The pieces in the MOBA collection range from the work of talented artists that have gone awry to works of exuberant, although crude, execution by artists barely in control of the brush. What they all have in common is a special quality that sets them apart in one way or another from the merely incompetent.
Featured above is a work in acrylic on canvas titled, straightforwardly enough, "In the Cat's Mouth."

I long ago gave up on art, or, rather, Art. Anything made by the hand of man is, or just as truthfully, isn't, Art.

So, "bad" Art? I'll defer to Count Basie, who, I think it was, said there are only two kinds of music. Music you like, and music you don't like. So any art can be shuffled of to MOBA, depending on who gets to shuffle it off, and what that person likes.

There's a lot of famous "Art" I would not be surprised to show up at MOBA.

The book is fabulous, but tough to find.

Thanks for noticing the Museum of Bad Art. We contend (disagreeing with Count Basie) that there is good and bad art. A different, often unrelated scale is art I like and art I don't like. We collect, exhibit, and celebrate art that most would agree is bad. But we love it.

Also, you can get either of the MOBA books at the gift shop on our website:
