Food. It Feeds People.

With the economy still down where portable toilet maintenance people fear to tread, I hope those of us still fortunate enough to have a few coins to rub together will consider giving one or two to The Oregon Food Bank. Having visited their Portland headquarters multiple times, and having donated to them many a spare coin (not to say enough), I can assure you they do excellent and necessary work.

If you have no coins to spare, OFB also accepts donations in the form of time/effort, food, and advocacy.

One way to donate to the OFB is to sign up for the Run Portland Run event, which comes in three pick-your-pain varieties, a 5K, a 10K, and a half-marathon. The event is coming soon, but there's still time to sign up, and by the way, you don't have to actually show up and run the miles to collect the t-shirt, the bib, and the satisfaction of knowing that your fee helped to feed people.

Sadly, hunger is a problem well beyond Oregon, and your donation of time, money, effort, or advocacy will be welcome no matter what local-to-you organization you select.
