Good, Bad, Ugly

This is good -- a freely downloadable Good Night Forest Moon printing kit. Anyone needing either side of that explained is not the kind of droid we're looking for.

This is bad -- It's bad for all of us and rather awkward for the person directly involved, Dan Benjamin, a US State Department official, who

sure picked an unlucky day to deliver a speech defending the Obama administration’s counterterrorism record to the International Peace Institute in New York:
Finally, our approach recognizes that our counterterrorism efforts can best succeed when they make central respect for human rights and the rule of law. Because as President Obama has said from the outset, there should be no tradeoff between our security and our values. Indeed, in light of what we know about radicalization, it is clear that navigating by our values is an essential part of a successful counterterrorism effort. We have moved to rectify past excesses of the past few years by working to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay…
This is ugly (via Ophelia Benson) -- no, it's alarming, dumbfounding, gob-smacking, unbe-fucking-lievable, and more besides. In the same Great Britain commonly considered one of the free nations of the world, and at the same present day commonly known as modern times,
[Harry] Taylor, 59, of Griffen Street, Salford, admitted at Liverpool Crown Court religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress...The atheist admitted leaving images of important religious figures in sexual poses but said he was simply challenging the views of others. The chaplain at the airport, who was "severely distressed" by the discoveries in November and December 2008, immediately reported the images to the police, prosecutors said...The maximum sentence for such an offence is seven years in prison.
Taylor could get up to seven years in prison for this non-crime. What a disgrace.

The good: This is EXTREMELY good. I'm having mine printed IMMEDIATELY.

The bad: [shaking head at the silly humans] Yup. Bad.

The ugly: [checking calendar to make sure I'm in the correct century...] This is ridiculous.
