Hitchens in Form

As believers dance around the delicate matter of how to speak of Christopher Hitchens's cancer, I think it's a perfect time to recall Hitchens at his finest and most acerbic, when addressing the then-recent death of Jerry Falwell:

The idea appears to have been to invite Hitchens on various talk-shows and see if he would dare hold forth as he usually does, and did he ever! He had only five minutes on this CNN appearance, but I think his aim must have been to out-do the ten minutes of 100 all-time movie insults. I say he did so by a wide margin, and while managing to stir in plenty of substance.

Be well, Christopher Hitchens. The world is less without your fearless, acrid voice.
